Is it healthy to listen to your parents all the time as a teenager?

and listening to them all the time because you don't want to hurt them again over drugs, I feel like a robot that has no control over my own life, my self-confedence has gone way down, I sacrafised my social life to prove myself and to gain back respect, and out of my humbleness I get sent on a bunch of guilt trips that I believe ****** me up psychologically! so is it healthy to listen to your parents all the time?

Is it healthy to listen to your parents all the time as a teenager?
although I shouldnt be telling this boring stuff to you- well it depends on what type of person you are and "HOW" you react to it and wether you take it in a good way or bad way. so I suggest you should talk to them when you think they are in a very happy mood and tell them how you fell(although it's not going to be very easy) but best of luck
Reply:I'm going to make this short for now (maybe I'll go come back later on and add more) but no, if you listening to your parents make you feel this way, it's not good for you. I'm not saying go and ignore them and rebel but maybe you're feeling a little suffocated?

Excessive guilt trips are a definate abuse of the parental powers. Why don't you tery and talk to them about it? You seem like a good person overall -- your parents should acknowledge that and let you have some reign on your life.

What they are doing is perhaps the opposite of what they want to do. Parents usually care for their children and all their talks, and embarrasing, frustrating parently moments are becuse they care for you and can't help but meddle in your life. Out of concern.

Let them know that you need the space and the independance to make choices. You are not going to screw your life over and even a little at a time may help.

I hope you resolve your problem soon. And I hope your parents would let you do so.
Reply:You have got to have you own life. When we are young we have to make mistakes and learn from them. We if do not find our own way in life we will no know who we are as a person. Its good to listen to your parents but you do not have to alway do what there say. if there want you to go to college but you want to work you listen to what there are telling you but at the end of the day it is your life and you need to live it your way no matter how many mistakes you make.
Reply:duh, no

we have a streak in us that makes us want to be different from our prents. it evolved in us so we could develop as a species.

like in caveman times, someone must have invented weaving to make clothes but i'm sure most people older than them thought it was too much hassle for just a piece of cloth. they must have thought that killing an animal would be much easier. but now we have mass production and stuff.

just dye your hair a wacky colour and speak in grunts and you will become a normal teenager once again!lol
