Is it okay to walk your dog only once a day?

I take him out throughout the day to backyard. But at night we go for 20-1hour walks. Is it enough?

Is it okay to walk your dog only once a day?
Provided your dog gets short toilet breaks during the day a 20 minute to an hours walk is average to good !

Dogs prefer walks in the morning when all the smells are fresh (most important for a dog)

Reply:Depends on the length of the walk. If you only walk an hour once a week, and all the other days are 20 minute walks, that might not be enough. It also depends on the age and energy level of your dog. I would say that a young dog needs AT LEAST this much exercise; for an older dog, what you're doing is pretty good. A great way to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise is how he behaves when he's at home. If he is hyper, destructive, chewing things, barking excessively, etc., then he is not getting enough activity.
Reply:You may want to add some more excercise. At night, keep the walks more to 40-1hr. When you take him out to the backyard, throw some balls around and play a quick game of fetch. Five minutes would be enough. That way once you add a total amount of times you go out plus a quick 5min game of fetch or tug-of-war, it really adds up.

It sounds okay. Don't worry to much. A healthy diet and that much of excercise should keep your pup fit. 27lbs isn't a lot but then again, it all depends on ur dog's mental activity and how much energy they have.
Reply:Yes, but you should walk your dog more because they like it, and need excercise.
Reply:As long as he's getting plenty of fresh air, attention, and not bored at home, one walk is enough. could you maybe do two half hour walks instead of one hour?
Reply:I dont walk my toy poodle at all!I think that she has enough room in the house...........
Reply:um yeah haha dont walk him too much hes already really small, feed him good and walk him just like u are, but no more.
