How good or bad is the movie"The Spiderwick Chronicles"(2008)? Is it worth seeing on the big screen for $2?
The movie is very different to your average kids fantasy movie, go and see it!
I think it's worth seeing, possibly not in the big screen, maybe wait to hire on DVD. Do not read the books before hand, I was disappointed in the movie because of this.
The movie is about three children and their mother that moves to a creepy old house. One of the children discover a world of fairies and the rest slowly become involved.
One point that interested me the most about this film is the length. The books are laid over a year or so, however, the story in the movie was based over a few nights. I thought this was remarkable. To have so much information put to the audience and yet you don't seem to get lost at all!
Enough of my blabbering... I hope this helps! :D
Reply:It is a really good movie. Nick Nolte and the kid from Charlie %26amp; The Chocolate Factory plays twins. I took my 7 year old and the ending was a bit too scary for him. I will buy the DVD for when he's a little older. He liked it, but had to cover his eyes some!!
Reply:First off, I'm jealous of you. You only have to pay 2 bucks to see a movie?!!
Anyway, I think it's a pretty decent movie. It basically revolves around three siblings (including Freddie Highmore, last seen in August Rush, as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) who must fend off against a forest full of mythical creatures found in their great-great-uncle's field guide. Mary Louise Parker co-stars as their disbelieving mother.
As far as I know, the film hasn't won any awards yet, but it went over pretty well with both critics and movie-goers (70% at Rotten Tomatoes, 7.1 on IMDb, and $70 million at the box office). I don't think it's really worth buying on DVD, but it might be okay for a rental.
As for paying $2 to see it at the movie theater, why not. Heck, I'd love to pay two bucks to see a movie!
