What does it mean 'femur below 5th centile'?

Last wek Ive had a ultrasound to check if my baby is to small and on the note I found that 'femur is below 5th centile' I would like to know what does it mean. I am 36 weeks and baby is only 2.100 kg.

What does it mean 'femur below 5th centile'?
Hi, I had that with my first girl. She was perfectly healthy and weighed 5lb 13. She was so tiny!!! I'm pg again. I can tell this baby won't be tiny. Don't worry everything is fine. Enjoy your beautiful little baby.
Reply:It means that 95% of babies are larger than yours. That is very small for 36 wks. That is about 4.75 lbs. The good news is that babies usually gain about 1/2 a lb a week for the last 4 wks. With any luck your baby will be about 6 lbs at birth.
Reply:this means the length of the femur is in the bottom 5%. They measure all the babies and work out stats on how long the femurs are over a wide population. 95% of femurs at this stage are longer than your baby's.

Your doc should explain this to you, don't be frightened to keep asking questions until you have it explained clearly to you. You have the right to understand what is going on with your body and your baby.
