WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU BROKE YOUR TOE and it looks crooked?
it might be dislocated
Reply:Tape it to next toe but not to tight ice for fist 24 hours seek doctor
Reply:From experience. I know they will do nothing for a toe. The most they will do is tape it to your next toe over.
Reply:Try really hard not to walk on it! Don't wear socks or shoes and if you have to get around, hop or hobble, don't put weight on it. If it was me I'd go to the ER.
Reply:go to the hospital
Reply:Take him to the doctor, he will give you a brace or a cast
Reply:use a shoe
Reply:Broken toes aren't hard to treat. If we stick to some basic fracture care principles we'll understand what it takes to heal a broken toe. First, it's a good idea to get an X-ray. Why? Well, the key to healing is to insure that the fracture is aligned and shows good apposition. Without good alignment and good apposition, the fracture will not only take longer to heal but may heal in poor alignment and be crooked. Therefore, without an x-ray, it's just a guess as to whether the alignment and apposition of the fracture fragments is correct.

Second, rest and elevation is imperative. Rest and elevation will enable the body to begin the natural process of healing.

Buddy splinting of the toes works for some but can be a challenge for others. We find a self adherent wrap such as 1 Co-Flex works well for splinting of the toes. Co-Flex is used to wrap the toe in a cylindrical manner almost like a little cast. In this way, the fracture is not only splinted but swelling is also controlled. Co-Flex can be reused so that a little strip can last several days. Fracture shoes are also helpful to allow for ambulation while offering enough room for the fractured toe.

Ice, elevation and an anti-inflammatory medication helps ease the pain. Remember, fractured toes may take up to 10 weeks to heal.

Most broken toes obviously have an acute onset. Those symptoms include edema (swelling), ecchymosis (bruising) and difficulty getting into regular shoes. So how can you differentiate a broken toe from a sprain? It's not always easy without and x-ray, but as a general rule of thumb, toe injuries with significant bruising typically are fractures.

What surprises most people is that the symptoms of a broken toe may last 8-10 weeks. Although it may be a little toe, you have to remember that a toe fracture injures bone, ligaments and tendon. These structures heal no faster in a little toe than they would in a wrist, elbow or other joint. So depending upon the apposition and alignment of the fracture, your general health status and your age, fracture healing will takes weeks to become pain free.

EDIT: Jami M.....What kind of idiotic remark is that??
Reply:He could probably wrap it up with your other toes so that it will heal properly. I hope things work out for you!
Reply:Pull on it it straighten it. Go to the Doctor or Hosp/Clinic. Blessings.
Reply:i'm afriad there is nothing that can be done when you break your toe. the doctor will tell you the same thing
Reply:if it's broken he'll straighten and tape to other toe.

if dislocated he will straighten, pop back in place and tape.
Reply:if your like me which i am a dancer and have broken every toe at least 2 times then it's just crooked i have tried to go to the doctor he said the only way was very painful and expensive surgery sorry but if you like me i think you might just have to live with a crooked toe
Reply:re break it, and put it back, its going to feel nice.
Reply:I don't think there is anything you can do for broken toes.

See if you can move the toe and at night elevate it and put ice on it.

Give it about two weeks and it should be mostly healed.
Reply:doctors can take an xray

then they can re-align it so it will heal properly

you will get another xray done to make sure it is straight.

but toes are difficult because everyone's bones in their toes are different

i would recommend going to see a doc/er tonight because when you are sleeping it could move around.
Reply:give you a finger cast and tell you to not run and everything.
Reply:see a doctor... it might be ok but u shoudl get it cheked out
Reply:With money you can get anything fixed on you. Surgery will be most likely to be needed.
Reply:get an x ray. maybe take it to a hospital not ask about it while it could be getting worse. on yahoo answers
Reply:well my dad broke his finger, if it is sideways then they will put it a splint..but dont wait to long because if you let it set then they may have to re break it and then straighten it :\
Reply:He will problably paint a little face on it and put a small wig on it to make it look natural.
Reply:I would say you should go to the doctor, you don't need to do much while you are waiting to go the doctor. I would say if it hurts put a ice pack on it but don't walk on it because you might put weight on it. :)%26gt;-
Reply:brake the other one and hope it comes out like the first
Reply:bang it with a hammer
Reply:He will put some kind of immobilizer... also you will have to use kinda like welll your feet should not touch the floor.... you should go to the doctor and or hospital today
Reply:From first hand experience, the only thing that can be one w/a broken toe is to tape it well to the toe next to it. It w/no doubt need to be taped for about 6 wks. for the bone to heal. IF it's swollen, put ice on it..15 min. on, 20 min. off. Just do this for the first 24 hrs. But tape it to the next toe %26amp; it w/heal OK. I did the same thing, that's how I know. Feel better soon...:)
Reply:He will charge you a lot of money to Xray it and tell you it is broken which you already know!

The only treatment for a broken toe is to buddy tape it to the toe next to it and make sure you always put a small piece of gauze padding between the two toes so the skin doesn't rub. Use an elastic tape which you can buy in any drug store.

Wear open toed sandals that feel comfortable and be patient. It will take about two weeks for the worst of the pain to subside and the bones will be healed in about 6 weeks.

For pain relief, you can take tylenol or motrin until you can et to the doctor!

Hope this helps.
